What Gmail is Doing to Combat Spam: a Video from Gmail

YouTube plugin error

How is spam handled with Gmail? - GMail has a pretty good spam filter that automatically moves all messages suspected of being spam into your spambox and keeping them out of your inbox.

Periodically, you will want to review your messages marked as spam.  You may find that a legitimate message was classified as spam.  In this case, you will want to Unblock Legitimate Mail Marked as Spam.  You may do this either by adding this sender as a contact or using a filter.

Once you have made sure that all messages classified as spam are unwanted you may delete them all at once by choosing the option to Delete All Spam in Gmail

On occasion, you may find that spam makes it through to your inbox.  If that is the case, you will want to Report Spam in your Inbox.

Once you understand the basics of filters and labels, but want to see how to actually set them up, Gmail has a helpful video tutorial on Using Filters and Labels.
